AT & T GIVES BACK TO MAINE'S MILITARY FAMILIES DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON

(Topsham, Maine) -- AT & T along with students from the Woodside Elementary School in Topsham are reaching out to Marines in Afghanistan with letters and calling cards so military personnel can stay connected throughout the holiday season. AT & T Regional Vice-President Owen Smith said, "AT & T feel fortunate to be able to give back to the military community and this is one small way we can do this. We are wishing our military families a safe and happy New Year." Woodside Elementary School Principal Rick Dedek organized the effort at Woodside Elementary, "Our students were excited to be selected for this project. We had a number of classrooms volunteer. Our soldiers who are serving overseas are part of the fabric of this community and we want them to know we are thinking of them every day and especially at a time when it's so hard for families to be apart. Our students recognize the sacrifice and were happy to step forward to let them know." To date, AT&T has built roughly 70 calling centers in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan and has donated nearly $8 million worth of prepaid calling cards for military personnel.
